夏念和、曾庆文、徐凤霞和吴七根编写的《第二届国际木兰科植物学术讨论会论文集》是由中国科学院华南植物园、国际植物园保护联盟(BGCI)、国际木兰协会(MSI)、广东省植物学会及广东省植物学会木兰分会主办的“第二届国际木兰科植物学术讨论会”的主要成果之一，收录木兰科系统分类学、植物地理学、细胞学、形态解剖学、分子生物学、植物化学、种质保存与保护生物学、植物生理学、植物生态学、栽培繁殖与新品种培育以及木兰科植物在园林景观中的应用等方面的论文29篇，其中属中国学者的14篇，属中科院华南植物园的4篇。该书反映了当今世界木兰科研究的最新成果，对推动全世界木兰科珍稀植物的保护与开发利用研究具有一定的科学意义。
