奥尔尼、罗宾逊、朱天曙编著的《中国青铜器(英文版)》以青铜文化的发展时间为序，从夏商青铜器谈起，历经朝代更替，截止到秦王朝时期。第一章从夏商时期开始，中国进入青铜时代，第二章讲述西周青铜礼器的繁荣，第三章展现春秋时期青铜文化第二次高峰的出现，第四章侧重战国时期青铜工艺的高度发展。发展至此，青铜文化趋于衰落，中国进入早期铁器时代。在从“史”的角度讲述青铜文化同时，本书最后一章还就青铜文化的地域观念进行了梳理。
