The one time we met, thirteen years ago, he gave me an Amy Fisher comic book. For those not old enough to remember,Fisher was the infamous "Long Island Lolita," as the tabloids would have it--a teenager whose affair with the considerably more senior Joey Buttafuoco resulted in an attempt to kill his inconvenient wife, who in her inconvenient fashion survived. In the early nineties it was a big story. Even those of us who lived on the West Coast were cau9ht up in it. On one side of the comic book was an Amy Fisher cover; then you flipped it over and there was the Buttafuoco cover, half the ma9azine telling her side of the story and half telling his.
In February, 2006, Zak Smith made his pornographic debut, under the pseudonym "Zak Sabbath," in the VCA film "Barbed Wire Kiss," by director Benny Profane (whose name is itself taken from the Pynchon novel V..) In the widely read porn blog Fleshbot, Smith mentions working on a "NYU thesis project" entitled "Freaky Kids I & II," in 1996 but declares, "here's where I'm making the BIG money" (although most of the money he makes in porn is actually donated to anarchist/activist group Food Not Bombs). He followed this up with an appearance opposite Pixie Pearl in Eon McKai's debut film for Vivid Entertainment, "Girls Lie."
Zak recently completed shooting on the highly anticipated adult feature "Stagger Lee" from Bad Seed Productions. This has been his most ambitious performance to date, employing extensive dialogue, special effects and 1895 period costuming. He shares the screen with Sasha Grey, Marie Luv, and Satine Phoenix.
