Social Structure and Emotion offers a compilation of the newest theoretical developments and empirical research linking social structure and emotion. The book answers such questions as how do power and status affect emotions and how does emotion contribute to social arrangements? Separate sections address five fundamental social processes - Inequality, Status, Exchange, Justice, and Identity. Each section contains both a commentary chapter that reviews and synthesizes literature in the area, as well as chapters that present the latest empirical and theoretical advances. Chapter authors are among the most prominent sociologists studying emotions and include six recipients of the Cooley-Mead Lifetime Achievement Award given by the Social Psychology section of the American Sociological Association and two recipients of the Distinguished Career Award given by the Emotions Section of the American Sociological Association.
