本书首先通过综合运用、发展肯尼斯·博克的新修辞学思想、体裁分析及系统功能语言学(SFL)关于人际元功能的最新“评价”理论,构建自己的“跨学科性劝说理论模型”,然后把这个模型运用到跨体裁性的话语实践中研究其功能性语法模式和规律。
在理论层面上,本研究通过构建跨学科的语篇研究框架,深入至不同领域的真实话语实践,来实现现代功能主义的篇章语言学、体裁分析与修辞学的学科接口,并发现适用于英语不同体裁的系统性、功能性和社会认知性劝说模型和模式;在实践层面上,本研究的结论可以用于指导实际交际行为,帮助实现劝说的交际目的,同时在教学上为EAP和ESP教学和研究提供框架和视角。
