Wood is the oldest and most alive building material available. It has many advantages: it can be found almost everywhere in the world, it can be used for many purposes and it is easy to work with.
The tree is one of the most important, most comprehensive and most significant symbols for man. The origin of wood and its thousand-year-old involvement as a building material in our cultural history have given rise to our intense emotional bonds with it. We feel close to this warm, organic material, closer than to cold stone or to transitory clay. It is no coincidence that the first toys young children have are often made from wood. Wood surrounds us in our daily lives, in much the same way as clothesdo, and makes our surroundings homely.
