本教材分十个单元，每个单元包括五大板块(趣味阅读、阅读技能、应用文一瞥、阅读自测、贵州风情)。每个单元的趣味阅读(Section 1)包含两篇文章，供学生课前独立完成；阅读技能(Section 2)主要通过实践练习进行相关技能的训练，此部分包含两篇文章，教师可在课堂上先向学生介绍该单元所涉及的阅读技能，再指导学生进行阅读；应用文一瞥(Section 3)可由教师指导学生阅读，使学生掌握该单元的应用文格式；阅读自测(Section 4)由Task 1和Task 2两个任务组成组成，Task 1为一篇短文，Task 2为短语配对，由学生课后独立完成；贵州风情(Section 5)为本教程的特色内容，每单元为一篇短文(内容涉及到贵州的风土人情、民族特色、主要景点、特产和饮食)，教师可在课堂上向学生简要介绍，让学生课后阅读。该部分的特点是可作为口语训练材料，让学生能脱口背诵。本教程阅读文章中所有生词都有注释。
