James McKenna is one of the most celebrated Irish sculptors of the last century. Born in Dublin, in 1933, he had an interesting career, combining the visual arts with literature - he was also a poet and a playwright - until he died in 2000 in Co. Kildare.This exhibition is the first major retrospective of his sculptural work, focusing on all Stages of his career. McKenna's work was already represented in the IMMA collection, but this exhibition will present the first opportunity to review in depth the significance of his work.
