The model of a dual-site exhibition seems entirely appropriate to the 'dialogic' nature of Oehlen's practice. It not only allows different aspects of the diverse range of his work to be presented in depth, but also enables different configurations of work to come together. Oehlen's renowned grey paintings, first started in the 1990s,are for example presented alongside large abstract works and painted collages at the Whitechapel; and then again, alongside digital poster collages and 'computer paintings' at Arnolfini. Oehlen worked closely with the curators, Martin Clark and Andrea Tarsia, in devising the format of the exhibition and the different configurations of work included.
