本书采用“专题研究”的方式编写,引导学生对某一个专题开展广泛而且有一定深度的探索,目的就是要引导学生透过文化现象,了解形成这种文化的历史、哲学和社会背景。此外,在学习异邦文化的同时,学生还应掌握一定的“文化批判能力”。本书在向学生介绍西方文化的同时,还鼓励学生将其与自己的文化进行对比研究,认识东西方文化的差异,在文化和价值观的冲突中,学会和不同的文化求同存异。本书为教师用书。
