本书为“外国语言学与应用语言学博士文库”中的一本。本书试图从语言作为社会符号的角度探讨新闻访谈中人际意义的连贯性，一方面对人际意义的连贯进行界定，论述英语语篇内人际意义的衔接以及语篇与情景语境的一致性；另一方面，就新闻访谈这一语类与实现人际意义的资源分布给予定性分析和定量检验，并挖掘其语境关系动因。

人际连贯为语篇内人际意义的衔接与语域中话语基调和话语方式的一致性。本书运用Systemic Coder进行定量分析，对人际连贯的性质及其相关要素进行了全面论述，提出了具有整合性和原创性的人际连贯理论模式。
