For cultural history and theology, apocalypse refers to such texts that address an approaching end of the world through visions,dreams, farewell speeches or prophecies. This body of writings,written between approximately 200 B.C. and 800 A.D., is referred to as apocalyptics. The word apocalyptic is also used to describe an author who embodies a particular mindset.
