Remarkably Designed,Finely Crafted Earrings from International Talents.
These exquisite earrings, chosen especially for this collection by award-winning artist Alan Revere, capture the most prevalent concepts in contemporary jewelry: exploration of materials, innovative methods, and contemplative solutions alongside a traditional search for beauty.
Earrings are among the most sculptural of all jewelry forms with virtually unlimited design possibilities. This outstanding collection presents 500 exceptional examples, from the classic to the avant-garde,selected by Alan Revere, a distinguished and award-winning leader in the field.
An international group of artists, from Janis Kerman to Michael Good, has created these extraordinary earrings. They have used such traditional materials as gold, silver, copper, and wire, as well as reimagined and repurposed more unusual items like glass, plastics, porcelain, paper, and found objects. Their work is forged, soldered, chased, fold-formed, to name but a few techniques, and the surfaces are embellished with everything from enamel to metal foil to precious stones.
Several of the designers share their inspirations and thoughts with you. Gina Pankowski sketches patterns first, and then creates three-dimensional models to test how the links move together. As you can see on Tighra, the play of pattern, form, and movement are the key to her designing process. The way a pair of earrings, such as Soft Geometry #3, moves and fits on the body is very important to Jeff and Susan Wise. Lars Skroder's innovative screw-setting technique, as shown on Balanse, allows the wearer to interchange diamonds with colored stones of a similar cut. Gayle Friedman attempts to engage as many of the senses as possible with Cocoa Pods.
