DHARMA SAYINGS
THE DHARMA SUTRA
DELUSIONS
Suffering follows your polluted
mind
Joy follows your pure mind
Resentment stays alive in relived
memories
Resentment dissolves when we
let go
Patience stops resentment
Even I do not own myself
Ignorant people with self
awareness
Eleven kinds of fire
No attachment is worse than
resentment
Like a torrent submerging a
sleeping village
Hold the mind aS a mirror,
without bending forward or
back
The wise ones do not worry about
the future
Less than one-sixteenth of Dharma
joy
Delusion over aStrology
Peolple need to save themse
lves
Practice is the only way
What is all
All acts are transient
SUFFERING
Looking for the house builder
If the heart is unsettled
An enemy mentality is the worst
enemy
No escape
The heart does not judge
Nirvana is the utmost joy
Desires bring few joys and much
pain
Self-discipllne in every area is a virtue
Nothing belongs to me
Separation from loved ones causes
suffering
Treating ourselves as the enemy
Face the consequences of one's
actious
Proper Dhaarma keeps us from
spinning our wheels
Distancing ourselves from all eviles
Diligently helping ourselves
Treating ourselves well
Seek~ red.go in ourselves
Reading one thousand verses
Practise what is preached
Living one hundred years is not
as good as being vigilant for
one day
Like the tongue tasting soup
A herder counting others'
cattle
Pretty in appearance, but witho
fragrance
Not by walking around naked JOY
We really live joyfully
If we keep proper mindfulness
I am so serene
Overcoming difficult challenges evil
It is rare to find such unique
opportunities
Quiescence is the utmost joy
Patience in adversity is most
difficult to achieve
Good practitioners cultivate sel
discipline
Wise ones discipline the mind
like bow makers straightening arrows
Like fish hying without water
Let go of both victory and defeat
People share the same manta-lity
Avoid attachment
CULTIVATING SPirituality
Refrain from any evll deeds
A house built sloppily will
definitely leak
Buddha is the only lecturer
Purify the mind and suffering ends
Like a fierce fire that burns up
all Confining ropes
Like bees collecting nectar
Quietly accept slander from others
Master of the consciousness
Like an elephant on a hattie field
Return hatred with love
This is real
Evll friends are more frightening
than fierce beasts
Do not keep company with
fools
Do not befriend fools
Like an elephant marching in a
forest
Like the elephant trainer discipiing an elephant
WISE ONES
The way to realization.
Wise ones are islands above the flood waters
Like sturdy rocks
Virtuous ones leave all desires
Wise ones abandon small
pleasures
Wise ones guard their mind
Not watching others' faults
Seeting faults in others is easy
Do not luxuriate in hedonistic pleasure
Giving up evil and taking up
goodness to become a tranquil Buddha
THE OTHER SHORE
Do not be greedy for earthly profit
Few can reach"the Other Shore"
Self as self's refuge
Being awake within a sleeping crowd
Avoiding indulgence is the way to stay alive
Beheving in truths and abiding by precepts
Nirvana is the utmost goal
Quietness is the sweetest joy
