With the exception of the article by Felipe Solis, the texts presented here are theresult of studies carried out by the seminar on 《Pre-Hispanic mural painting in Mexico》which I proudly direct and coordinate, in the Instituto de Investigaciones Esteticas de laUniversidad Nacional Aut6noma de Mexico, UNAM (Institute of Aesthetic Research of theNational Autonomous University of Mexico). Tatiana Falc6n, Maria Elena Ruiz Gallut,Maria Teresa Uriarte and Leticia Staines Cicero are members of this seminar. Felipe SolisOlguin, Subdirector of Archaeology at the Museo Nacional de Antropologia (NationalMuseum of Anthropology), is a curator of the Mexica room. They all have experience, which has been gathered after numerous years dedicated to the study of pre-Hispanicmural painting. In this work, they express their own point of view acquired from theirresearch. This oscillates between regional styles, particular themes and the study oftechniques and materials.
