本教程分为文脉江南、艺之江南、食在江南、民俗江南、科技江南5个模块23章。每章基于主题设计配套产出型英语写作或翻译（笔译、口译）任务。使用者可以根据教学需要设计一个或两个学期的教学任务。
本教程编写以语言输入为出发点，以文化输出为引，结合地域经典文化与英语学科特点，以期实现语言训练和创新实践的有机融合。本教程立足中国立场对教材传达的文化价值与中国国家形象进行设计，对教材中的中外文化进行整体规划和系统性编写，加强中国文化的输入、呈现、学习与表达；本教程还针对中国文化内容设计适宜的教学活动，以加深学习者对文化知识的认识与体验，并通过有意义的产出型创新性语言实践训练，真正促进英语学习者跨文化能力的培养与发展。
