易丹，1960年出生。1981年，四川大学中文系毕业，文学学士。1984年，美国密西根州立大学英文系毕业，文学硕士：现为四川大学文学与新闻学院教授，博士生导师。奥尔堡大学、波恩大学、根特大学、哈佛大学、鲁汶大学等高校访问学者和客座研究员。
代表作有《断裂的世纪》、《中国现代艺术史1979-1989》(与吕澎合著)、《我在美国信息高速公路上》、《触摸欧洲》等。发表有长篇、中短篇小说，并与钱滨合作多部获奖电视连续剧。
