本书是一本外国人在中国的故事集，作者是55位外国友人，他们来自五大洲20多个国家和地区，因为不同的因缘际会而来到中国。书中讲述了他们在中国学习、工作、生活、旅行中发生的各种“趣事”“囧事”，记录了他们初到华夏大地的心路历程，从新奇、茫然到文化冲撞，从克服差异到寻找内蕴，以及他们如何对待这些体验、获得经验并安居乐业的过程。他们在中国有着不同的身份，有的是学生，有的是厨师，有的是教师……他们丰富的生活背景，成就了本书“看中国”的丰富视角。

韦忠和，厦门精艺达翻译服务有限公司创始人兼总经理。硕士毕业于厦门大学外文系，曾从事外贸、翻译、驻美代表、企业管理等工作。2000年创办福建省第一家翻译公司——厦门精艺达翻译服务有限公司。现任中国翻译协会理事、翻译服务委员会副主任，厦门翻译协会会长，全国翻译专业学位研究生教育认证导师，有《世界上的升船机》《如何开办和经营自己的公司》《魅力厦门》（合译）、《领导力原则》《我不见外：老潘的中国来信》等多部译著。
