E.H.贡布里希教授，功勋团成员（O.M），高级英帝国勋爵士（C.B.E）。1909年生于维也纳，1936年进入伦敦的瓦尔堡研究院任教职。从1959年起，担任伦敦大学古典传统历史教授及院长，直至1976年退休。
