《太阳升起：“美国小哥”见证中国扶贫奇迹》首版于2021年1月由五洲传播出版社出版，由中国日报社资深外籍记者聂子瑞（Erik Nilsson）撰写，分为中、英两个文版。
作者在书中记录了十多年亲身探索中国的扶贫方案、灾后救援和整体发展的报道，以及自己在报道过程中，积极投身公益，帮助受灾儿童和困难家庭的故事。在中国历史性地解决了绝对贫困问题的背景下，这样一位来自美国、在中国工作多年的专业新闻工作者，通过这本书，以一个亲历者的身份讲故事，为中外读者提供了一个非常独特的视角，彰显出在全球背景下中国解决贫困问题的重大意义、付出的巨大努力和取得的辉煌成就。
作者用坦诚、乐观的笔触和深刻的见解，向世界讲述中国故事，身体力行地将扶贫和志愿行动付诸实践，从一个纯粹的旁观者和记述者，变成了参与者和见证者。图书首次出版后在广大读者中引起强烈反响，央视《面对面》对作者进行专访，众多媒体转载报道，引发读者热议。
此次英文版再版，增加了一些新的内容，在首版基础上为读者提供了更多信息和启迪。中国日报新时代斯诺工作室为本书撰写了新版序言。

聂子瑞，自2006年以来，中国日报社记者Erik Nilsson（中文名：聂子瑞）走遍了中国大陆的每一个省份，报道扶贫、救灾和政府政策。
2016年，这位当时33岁的美国人成为“中国政府友谊奖”历史上最年轻的外国获奖者。这是中国政府为表彰外国专家“在中国的社会和经济发展中作出突出贡献”而设立的奖项。他还获得了从省级新闻奖。
自2017年3月以来，这位家住北京的记者拍摄的视频已在各种新媒体平台上得到数亿次的点击观看。中国网民称他为“美国小哥”。
他已联合写作、编撰和编辑了16本关于中国的中英文书籍。
2011年，Nilsson发起了一个志愿者行动，为青海玉树藏族自治州牧民社区有待发展的学校送去太阳能电池板、衣物、药品、食物和学习用具。他的团队还为有残障的孩子提供手术、义肢和轮椅，并为低收入牧民家庭的子女提供大学奖学金。
